What it is/does and what it is/does NOT with specific relation to my other lifeOS tools ([[M ToDo]])
Technically Mature - compared to Logseq
Probably cause of its charging model
Markdown based - making it easy to migrate to / from the tool
Also co-existing with Logseq,
or easy migration from Logseq
Greater Adoption for shared Digital Gardens check out https://vaults.obsidian-community.com/
NOT Free for Publish and Sync
But free options to achieve DO exist with tinkering
Publish > Obsidian Digital Garden with example here
and Quartz too! - see below evaluation
NOT really an outlining tool like Logseq
it does support collapse / expand a list out of the box
it does not support drag drop branches - so for example this list!
plugins available?
folders and notes in the left hand IS an outline
and conveniently also held in same form in the file explorer thereby making your notes entirely transparent and flexible (other apps put it in proprietary databases)
does trade off some performance as databases respond quicker
Evaluate (medium to long term)
1. Coexisting with Logseq
2. Phased Replacement away from Logseq
especially if Logseq is abandoned
Quirks to resolve
Pasting markdown below a branch causes it to lose presenting as rich text
Obsidian - Spin up Quartz + CF Pagesplugin for Publish
Quartz wins cause plugin requires Github (with caps on media) or its own pay-for hosting repostiroy
Evaluate Sync alternatives
iCloud native - mount iCloud on desktop using Apple app - sync iCloud to NAS using Resilio on desktop
Gave up on Resilio Sync or Tailscale Taildrive or SMB or new Tool Mobius Sync
Constrained to iCloud storage but easy to offload to other Vaults on desktop
